Mariah Carey’s Las Vegas Residency to End in May

27 Sep

Back in January 2015, Rolling Stone announced that Mariah Carey would perform her very first Vegas residency at the start of May, in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. A new and exciting chapter for her, the “Mariah #1 to Infinity” show was set to include her 18 chart toppers throughout her career as well as new music. More than a year later, she is still wowing Sin City audiences with her phenomenal talent, but all good things must come to an end at some point.

Although we’re still months away from the conclusion of her two-year residency, Carey announced the final dates of her Vegas shows, running from April 26 to May 13 and tickets ranging from $55 to $250. But this probably won’t be the last time Vegas will be seeing one of the most successful solo artists of all time.

The Colosseum has been a major musical landmark for Sin City, opening its doors back in 2003 in partnership with Celine Dion to perform “A New Day.” After her legendary five-year run at this exclusive venue, renovations occurred that would invite a new generation of resident artists, bringing in other legends like Elton John, Rod Stewart and Cher. This concert arena was proof that Las Vegas was more than just a city for gambling. For land-based casinos, it was difficult to compete with online resources that offered sizeable welcome bonuses for table games, so rather than purely focusing on gaming revenues, casino hotels like Caesars Palace invested in performance venues that would host music’s greatest talents. Other resorts have followed suit, building their own concert halls and sponsoring outdoor music festivals, reeling in a new demographic of tourists aside from their usual gaming enthusiasts.

What is remarkable about Mariah Carey is her extensive fan base, with people of all ages identifying with her soulful pop and R&B sound. There were those that were there from her Visions of Love days, and new fans that enjoyed catchy hits like #Beautiful featuring Miguel, thus bringing together a wide range of ages into The Colosseum to enjoy her unparalleled vocal range, all her number #1 hits, and some never-before-performed material that will surely excite her concert goers.

Tickets for her final shows will go on sale this Friday, with presales prior to then. For more information or updates on Mariah #1 to Infinity, check out her official website for details.
