Kelly Clarkson

Track Title: “I Do Not Hook Up.”

Written by: Katy Perry, Kara DioGuardi and Greg Wells.

Rejected by: Katy Perry / Recorded by: Kelly Clarkson.

“I Do Not Hook Up” was christened as the second promotional single from Kelly Clarkson’s fourth studio album, “All I Ever Wanted” [Sony Music Entertainment / 19 Entertainment / RCA Records].

The track was initially recorded by Katy Perry for her debut album “One of the Boys” [EMI Music Group / Capitol Records].

In her book “A Helluva High Note,” Kara DioGuardi revealed how a conversation with Perry in which the latter stated that she’s happy “I Do Not Hook Up” did not make the album’s final cut.

The hit songwriter understood where Perry was coming from with that catty statement as the track’s chart success paled in comparison with the singles released from “One of the Boys” – “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot ‘N Cold.”
