John Legend hits the studio with RoccStar for new music

John Legend has teamed up with RoccStar on new material.

“Currently making history with my brother @JohnLegend, it is a blessing to create with a fellow creator and inspire with one who inspires so many! This record will be massive,” Roccstar posted to his Instagram account.

The record producer and songwriter is known for helming Chris Brown’s “Fine China” [RCA Records], Jennifer Lopez’s “Acting Like That” f/ Iggy Azalea [Capitol Records] and Jasmine V’s “I Love Your Crazy” [Interscope Records].

He also contributed to the next projects by Fergie [Interscope Records], Zendaya [Hollywood Records], Usher [RCA Records], CeeLo Green [Warner Bros Records] and Prince Royce [RCA Records].

Meanwhile, Legend is expected to release his fifth studio collection later this year under Sony Music Entertainment / Columbia Records.

The still-untitled CD reportedly features further collaborations with James “Malay” Ho (Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean) and Alex Da Kid (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj).

Legend’s last album, 2013’s “Love in the Future,” debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned hit singles including “Who Do We Think We Are,” “All of Me” and “You & I (Nobody in the World).”

Furthermore, Legend serves as the executive producer for Stacy Barthe’s upcoming debut album “Becoming.” The keenly-awaited project will hit stores later this year via Homeschool Records and Motown Records.

Rihanna unveils new single “American Oxygen” music video

Rihanna has unveiled the music video for her new single online.

The singer/songwriter posted the visual clip for “American Oxygen” to her Vevo channel on Thursday (April 16, 2015).

“American Oxygen” – now available for download via iTunes – was co-written by Sam Taylor of X Ambassadors and Candice Pillay, who previously teamed with Rihanna on the Bangladesh-produced hit singles “Cockiness (Love It).”

Production duties on “American Oxygen” were handled by Alex Da Kid, who is also responsible for Nicki Minaj’s “Bed of Lies” f/ Skylar Grey [Republic Records] and Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” [KIDinaKORNER / Interscope Records].

Rihanna’s upcoming album eighth album – featuring previous promotional cuts “FourFiveSeconds” and “Bitch Better Have My Money” – will hit stores later this year under Westbury Road Entertainment and Roc Nation Records.

The keenly-awaited project is executive-produced by Kanye West, whose extensive resume includes works for Alicia Keys [RCA Records], Beyonce [Columbia Records] and Mariah Carey [Epic Records].

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter John Legend has recorded new material with hit music producers Alex Da Kid and James “Malay” Ho.

It is yet to be known whether these sessions are intended for Legend’s upcoming fifth studio album or a different project for another artist.

Recent production credits by Alex Da Kid include Rihanna’s “American Oxygen” [Roc Nation], Nicki Minaj’s “Bed of Lies” f/ Skylar Grey [Republic Records] and Imagine Dragons’ “I Bet My Life” [KIDinaKORNER / Interscope Records].

Meanwhile, James “Malay” Ho previously co-wrote and produced hit singles “You & I (Nobody in the World)” and “Green Light” for John Legend.

His other credits include “Lost” by Frank Ocean [Def Jam Recordings], “One Thing” by Alicia Keys [RCA Records], “The Thrill is Gone” by Fantasia [J Records] and “Undertow” by Goapele [Skyblaze Recordings].

Legend’s last album, “Love in the Future,” was released in August 2013 via Columbia Records. The collection peaked to number four on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned international hit single “All of Me.”

Furthermore, Legend serves as the executive-producer for Stacy Barthe’s upcoming debut album “BEcoming,” which will be released later this year via Homeschool Records in partnership with Motown Records.

Rihanna confirms new single “B*tch Better Have My Money”

Rihanna has confirmed the details for her new single.

The singer/songwriter christened “Bitch Better Have My Money” as the second promotional cut from her upcoming eighth album, tentatively entitled “R8.”

Production duties on “My Money” were handled by Roc Nation signee Deputy, who also worked with A-list writers and artists such as Wale, J Cole, NeYo, Rick Ross, French Montana, Flo Rida, The Dream, Sean Garrett to list a few.

Previous single, the Kanye West and Paul McCartney-assisted “FourFiveSeconds,” is now available for download via iTunes.

“R8” serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “Unapologetic,” which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned hit singles including “Diamonds,” “Stay (featuring Mikky Ekko)” and “Pour it Up.”

Other producers backing Rihanna on “R8” are Stargate (Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez), Alex Da Kid (Nicki Minaj, Skylar Grey), DJ Mustard (Omarion, Keyshia Cole) and Naughty Boy (Emeli Sande, Leona Lewis).

MNEK works with Alex Da Kid for debut album?

MNEK has worked on new material with Alex Da Kid.

“Was writing to the hot beats of Alex Da Kid yesterday! Lovely guy, really nice to meet you (nice to hear a London accent too),” he tweeted.

It is yet to be known whether the session was intended for another artist or a future MNEK’s upcoming debut album.

Alex Da Kid – born Alexander Grant – recently served as executive producer for Imagine Dragon’s second studio collection, “Smoke and Mirrors,” which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

His extensive resume also includes works for Eminem (“Love the Way You Lie”), Skylar Grey (“C’mon Let Me Ride”), Rihanna (“Farewell”), Nicki Minaj (“Beautiful Sinner”) and Christina Aguilera (“Make the World Move”).

Meanwhile, MNEK is expected to release his full-length debut album later this year under Universal Music Group imprint Virgin EMI Records.

The still-untitled project will be preceded by the “Small Talk” EP, which will be available for download from March 27 via iTunes (UK).

On the songwriting and production front, MNEK has confirmed placements on the next releases by Madonna [Interscope], Jojo [Atlantic], Becky Hill [Parlophone], Tamera Foster [Syco] and Melissa Steel [Atlantic].

Some of his notable credits are Karen Harding’s “Say Something” [Capitol Records], Little Mix’s “Nothing Feels Like You” [Columbia Records] and Kylie Minogue’s “Feels So Good” [Parlophone Records].

Rihanna recruits Sam Smith for new album?

Sam Smith has hinted at a new collaboration with Rihanna.

“I’m personally very excited for Rihanna’s album. I know some stuff about that record that no-one knows” the British singer/songwriter stated in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Smith – real name Samuel Frederick Smith – recently co-wrote four songs on Mary J. Blige’s latest CD, “The London Sessions.” The songs in question are “Right Now,” “Nobody But You,” “Therapy” and “Not Loving You.”

His debut album “In the Lonely Hour” is now available for download via PMR Records and Capitol Records. The platinum-selling project includes singles “Money on My Mind,” “Stay with Me” and “I’m Not the Only One.”

Meanwhile, Rihanna’s next studio collection will be released later this year via Roc Nation in partnership with SRP Records.

The highly-anticipated project serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “Unapologetic,” which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

Other songwriters previously linked to the new album, tentatively entitled “R8,” are Natalia Kills, Elijah Blake, Kiesza, James Fauntleroy, Emeli Sande, Charli XCX, Ne-Yo, Anjulie Persaud, Kelly Sheehan, and Ester Dean.

On the production front, Rihanna has reportedly teamed with Stargate, Naughty Boy, DJ Mustard, Alex Da Kid, Jeff Bhasker, Glass John, and Tiago Carvalho.

Candice Pillay has revealed the artwork for her upcoming LP.

On December 25, “The Mood Kill” will be available for download via SoundCloud & Audiomack and for streaming via Spotify and Beats Music.

Dwayne “Dem Jointz” Abernathy serves as the LP’s executive producer. His resume also includes works for Brandy (“Put it Down”), Danity Kane (“All in a Day’s Work”) and Jordin Sparks (“Right Here, Right Now”).

As a songwriter, Pillay has penned “Cockiness (Love It)” for Rihanna [Def Jam Recordings] as well as “Shut Up,” “Circles,” “Make the World Move,” “Light Up the Sky” and “Cease Fire” for Christina Aguilera [RCA Records].

She also collaborated with top hitmakers including Alex Da Kid (Nicki Minaj, Skylar Grey), Shondrae “Bangladesh” Crawford (Kelly Rowland, Teyana Taylor) and Christopher Braide (Jennifer Hudson, Britney Spears).
