Aston Merrygold premieres music video for new single “Get Stupid”

Aston Merrygold has premiered the music video for his new single online.

The British singer and songwriter posted the James Lees-directed clip for “Get Stupid” to his official YouTube channel on Tuesday (May 26, 2015).

“Get Stupid” was co-written by Karen Poole, whose other credits include Giorgio Moroder’s “Right Here Right Now” f/ Kylie Minogue [RCA], Lily Allen’s “As Long As I Got You” [Parlophone] and Nina Nesbitt’s “Mr. C” [Island].

Production duties were handled by Sonny Mason, who is also co-responsible for Kimbra’s “Love in High Places” [Warner Bros], The Wanted’s “Glow in the Dark” [Island] and Loveable Rogues’ “What a Night” [Syco Music].

As mentioned in earlier posts, Merrygold is plotting to release his debut album later this year under Warner Bros Records.

The still-untitled project reportedly features further collaborations with Future Cut (Fleur East, Tamera Foster), Chelcee Grimes (Little Mix, Conor Maynard), Lil’ Eddie (Usher, Prince Royce) and Jin Jin (MNEK, Jess Glynne).

Aston Merrygold drafts Chelcee Grimes, Future Cut for debut album

British singer/songwriter Aston Merrygold has added Chelcee Grimes and Future Cut to the list of contributors for his upcoming debut album.

Grimes’ songwriting resume includes works for Fleur East [Syco Music], Karen Harding [Capitol Records], Little Mix [Columbia Records], Conor Maynard [Parlophone Records] and Tulisa Contostavlos [All Around the World].

Some of her notable credits are “Million Miles” by Kylie Minogue [Parlophone] and “Walking Through the Desert” by The Saturdays [Polydor].

Meanwhile, Future Cut are known for producing and co-writing Olly Murs’ “Please Don’t Let Me Go” [Epic Records], Lily Allen’s “Smile” [Parlophone Records] and Stooshe’s “Black Heart” [Warner Bros Records].

The hitmaking duo – consisting of Darren Lewis and Tunde Babalola –also contributed to the next projects by Ella Eyre [Virgin EMI], Tamera Foster [Syco Music], Whinnie Williams [Night Beach Records], Alesha Dixon [Asylum Records] and Mutya Keisha Siobhan [Polydor Records].

As mentioned in earlier posts, Merrygold is expected to release his first studio collection later this year under Warner Bros. Records.

The still-untitled project reportedly features additional alliances with The Underdogs (Ciara, Justin Timberlake), Jin Jin (MNEK, Jess Glynne), Dem Jointz (Rihanna, Madison Beer) and Lil’ Eddie (Usher, Prince Royce).

Aston Merrygold inks new deal with Warner Bros. Records

Aston Merrygold has signed a new deal with Warner Bros. Records.

The music production and distribution label – which is an imprint of Warner Music Group – also oversees releases by CeeLo Green, Lianne La Havas, Joss Stone, Biffy Clyro, Diane Birch, Muse, and The Overtones.

Merrygold – who used to be a member of JLS until their split in 2013 – is currently working on his upcoming solo debut studio collection.

The still-untitled project reportedly boasts contributions from The Underdogs (Rihanna, Justin Timberlake), Lil’ Eddie (Usher, Tessanne Chin), Dem Jointz (Marsha Ambrosius, Chris Brown) and Kevin McCall (Brandy, Sevyn Streeter).

Aston Merrygold confirms The Underdogs for debut solo album

British singer/songwriter Aston Merrygold has confirmed working with The Underdogs for his upcoming debut album.

The songwriting and production – consisting of members Harvey Mason Jr. and Damon Thomas – have helmed works for Justin Timberlake [RCA Records], Katharine McPhee [Columbia Records] and Jojo [Atlantic Records].

Recent credits by The Underdogs include Tamar Braxton’s “All the Way Home” [Epic Records], Justin Bieber’s “Catching Feelings” [Island Records] and Jessica Mauboy’s “Heartbreak Party” [Sony Music Australia].

The still-untitled LP by Merrygold will boast further contributions from Sham & Motesart (Melanie Fiona, Celine Dion), Lil’ Eddie (Pink, Fefe Dobson), Kevin McCall (Keri Hilson, Bridget Kelly), Dem Jointz (RaVaughn, Chris Brown).

Meanwhile, fans of The Underdogs’ production work should look out for the next projects by Usher [RCA Records], Craig David [Universal Music Group], Tank [Atlantic Records] and Jennifer Hudson [RCA Records].

Aston Merrygold collaborates with Dem Jointz for debut album

British singer/songwriter Aston Merrygold recently collaborated with hitmaker Dwayne Abernathy, more commonly known as Dem Jointz.

The former JLS member is expected to release his upcoming as-yet-untitled debut solo album later this year.

Merrygold and Dem Jointz previously teamed up on JLS tracks “Dessert,” “Hottest Girl in the World” and “Gotta Try It,” which were lifted from the group’s last studio album “Evolution” [Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records].

Dem Jointz is also known for co-writing and producing hit singles “Cockiness” by Rihanna [Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings] and “Put It Down” by Brandy f/ Chris Brown [Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records].

Some of his upcoming placements are with RaVaughn [Compound University / Columbia Records], Sabi [Warner Music Group / Kemosabe Records], Danity Kane [TBA] and Becky G [Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records].

In addition to Dem Jointz, Merrygold has also recorded new material with Sham & Motes (Celine Dion, Nelly Furtado), Kevin McCall (Wynter Gordon, Christina Milian) and Edwin “LiL’ Eddie” Serrano (Tessanne Chin, Fifth Harmony).

Aston Merrygold hits the studio with Kevin McCall

Aston Merrygold has recently recorded new material with Kevin McCall.

It is yet to be known whether the above mentioned material will appear on the former JLS member’s upcoming debut solo album.

McCall has previously penned and produced songs for Brandy [RCA Records], Kelly Rowland [Republic Records], Jasmine Villegas [Interscope Records], Keyshia Cole [Geffen Records] and Christina Milian [Young Money Records].

Some of his notable credits include “No Bullshit” by Chris Brown [RCA Records], “Special Delivery” by Bridget Kelly [Roc Nation], “My Girl” by Mindless Behavior [Interscope Records] and “Lighthouse” by Joe Jonas [Hollywood Records].

Meanwhile, JLS have released their last studio album “Evolution” in 2012 via RCA Records. That collection debuted at number three on the UK Albums Chart and delivered hit singles “Hottest Girl in the World” and “Hold Me Down.”

Their compilation album, “Goodbye – The Greatest,” is now available for download via iTunes and all other digital outlets. The set features “Billion Lights,” written by Ali Tennant along with Camille Purcell and Sandy Wilhelm.

JLS have debuted their new single online.

“Give Me Life” marks the second promotional single from the British group’s fourth album, “Evolution,” out now via Sony Music Entertainment / Epic Records.

The follow-up to “Hottest Girl in the World” was written by group members Aston Merrygold, Oritse Williams, Marvin Humes and Jonathan Gill along with Jarrad Rogers, Emmanuel Orelaja and Jay Warner.

“Evolution” serves as the follow-up to 2011’s “Jukebox.” That release debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. It also delivered hit singles “She Makes Me Wanna,” “Take a Chance on Me” and “Do You Feel What I Feel?”

JLS have posted a new acoustic performance to their official YouTube page.

“Have Your Way” is included on the British group’s fourth album, “Evolution,” available now via Sony Music Entertainment / Epic Records.

The track was written by group members Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Jonathan Gill and Oritse Williams along with Kevin “KC” Cossom, Jon Anderson, David Anderson, Andrew “Dru Brett” Harr and Jermaine “Mayne Zayne” Jackson. Production credits were handled by hip hop duo The Runners.

“Evolution” serves as the follow-up to 2011’s “Jukebox.” That release debuted at number two on the UK Album Chart. It also delivered hit singles “She Makes Me Wanna,” “Do You Feel What I Feel?” and “Take a Chance on Me.”
