Kandace Springs enlists James “Malay” Ho for debut album

Kandace Springs has enlisted James “Malay” Ho for her first studio collection.

“Had an incredible 3 days in the studio with #Malay” the singer, songwriter and pianist posted to her Instagram page on Tuesday (February 24, 2015).

Malay recently produced and co-wrote “Angels & Airwaves,” “April’s Fool” and “Battle Cry” for Angel Haze. These tracks appear on the rapper’s debut album, “Dirty Gold,” out now via Island Records (UK) and Republic Records (US).

His resume also includes works Goapele (“Undertow”), Alicia Keys (“One Thing”), Frank Ocean (“Lost”), John Legend (“You & I”), Fantasia Barrino (“Teach Me”), Jamie Foxx (“15 Minutes”) and Cris Cab (“Paradise on Earth”).

Meanwhile, Springs’ debut album will be released later this year via SRP Records in partnership with Blue Note Records and Capitol Records. The still-untitled project is executive produced by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken.

Other album contributors include Jack Splash (Solange, Pixie Lott), Andrea Martin (Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks), Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift), Andre Harris (Usher, Mariah Carey) and Stacy Barthe (Rihanna, Jhene Aiko).

Kandace Springs hits the studio with Dan Wilson

Kandace Springs has recorded new material with Dan Wilson.

“Had an amazing day in the studio with Dan Wilson cutting a dope song, then rehearsed with the band for Kimmel tomorrow!!” the singer, songwriter and pianist tweeted on Wednesday (January 14, 2015).

Wilson is responsible for co-writing and / or producing Adele’s “Someone Like You” [XL Recordings], John Legend’s “You & I (Nobody in the World)” [Columbia Records] and Pink’s “The Great Escape” [RCA Records].

His extensive songwriting and production resume includes further works for Taylor Swift [Big Machine Records], James Blunt [Atlantic Records], Paloma Faith [RCA Records] and James Morrison [Island Records].

Meanwhile, Springs is expected to release her full-length debut album later this year via SRP Records and Blue Note Records.

New York-based songwriting and production duo Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken will serve as the executive producers for the still-untitled project.

Among the musicians backing Springs on the keenly-awaited album are Jack Splash (Solange, Alicia Keys), Stacy Barthe (Rihanna, K. Michelle), Andre Harris (Usher, Melanie Fiona) and Andrea Martin (LeToya Luckett, Ella Eyre).

Her self-titled EP is now available for download via iTunes (US). The mini-collection features singles “Love Got in the Way” and “West Coast,” as well as contributions from Steve Mostyn, Jessyca Wilson, and Brandon Hodge.

Kandace Springs has revealed the tracklisting for her upcoming mini-album.

The singer, songwriter and pianist will release the self-titled EP on September 30 via iTunes in partnership with SRP Records / Blue Note Records.

Current single “Love Got in the Way” was co-written and produced by Brandon “B.A.M.” Hodge, who is also responsible for Trey Songz’s “What’s Best for You” [Atlantic Records] and Marsha Ambrosius’ “Without You” [RCA Records].

The highly-anticipated new project by Springs is executive produced by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken, who also worked with Rihanna [Roc Nation], Shakira [RCA Records] and Livvi Franc [Warner Bros. Records].

Other album contributors include Warren “Oak” Felder (Brandy, Elle Varner), Andrew “Pop” Wansel (Alicia Keys, Chris Brown), Steve “Ace” Mostyn (Usher, Ella Henderson) and Ronald “Flippa” Colson (Rihanna, K. Michelle).

Kandace Springs has unveiled a new song online.

The singer, songwriter and pianist posted the audio clip for “Forbidden Fruit” to her official SoundCloud page on Tuesday (September 2, 2014).

The track was co-written and produced by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken, who have also worked with the likes of Kelly Clarkson [RCA Records], Rihanna [SRP Records] and Livvi Franc [Warner Bros. Records].

As previously reported, Springs’ highly-anticipated debut mini-alum is scheduled for release on September 30 via Blue Note Records.

The self-titled project will spawn further collaborations with Brandon Hodge (Ne-Yo, Trey Songz), Warren Felder (Usher, Mayer Hawthorne), Ronald Colson (Brandy, K. Michelle) and Steve Mostyn (Miguel, Elle Varner).

The track was produced by Warren “Oak” Felder (Ariana Grande, Sevyn Streeter), Steve “Ace” Mostyn (Jennifer Lopez, Ella Henderson) and Ronald “Flippa” Colson (Elle Varner, K. Michelle).
