[Songs Meant for Other Artists] Megan Rochell – The One You Need

15 Mar

Track Title: “The One You Need.”

Label: Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings.

Written By: Delisha Thomas, LaShawn Daniels and Rodney Jerkins.

Turned Down By: Christina Milian.

Recorded By: Megan Rochell.

Christina Milian received a lot of flack for turning down Rihanna’s monster hit single “S.O.S.”

In order to clarify things, she did a radio interview and revealed that the song L.A. Reid begged her to record was actually “The One You Need.” She turned it down because it did fit the sound of her then-released album “So Amazing.”

That project was fully produced by R&B and hip hop producers Marcello “Cool” Valenzano and Andre “Dre” Lyon. The only other musician she collaborated with on “So Amazing” was Shaffer “Ne-Yo” Smith, who previously teamed up with Milian on the Poli Paul-produced “I’m Sorry” and “Peep Show.”

Meanwhile, Megan Rochell landed “The One You Need” and it was the lead single of her shelved debut album “You, Me and The Radio.”

After she parted ways with Island Def Jam Recordings, Rochell signed with Rodney Jerkins’ label Darkchild Records. We haven’t heard anything ever since!
