Since its a slow news day, I thought about writing this post, which has been on my mind for a while now. Its about songwriters/producers who worked with two artists that are frequently associated with one another. For this post, I have chosen Alicia Keys and Beyoncé.  In case you did not know, Keys was signed to Columbia Records (which is Beyoncé’s current label) before signing to Clive Davis’ J Records.  Here are the musicians that both artists have worked with:

Major Lazer premieres music video for new single “Powerful”

Major Lazer

Major Lazer have premiered the music video for their new single online.

The electronic music group – consisting of members Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire – posted the visual clip for “Powerful” to their official YouTube channel on Thursday (July 23, 2015).

“Powerful” – now available for download via iTunes – features vocals from British songbird Ellie Goulding and Jamaican artist Tarrus Riley.

The track was co-written by Thomas “Diplo” Pentz along with Maxime Picard, Clement Picard, Ilsey Juber, and Fransisca Hall.

Major Lazer’s latest album “Piece is the Mission” also includes previous promotional cuts “Lean On” (featuring DJ Snake and MØ), “Light it Up” (featuring Nyla), and “All My Love” (featuring Ariana Grande).

Meanwhile, fans of Diplo’s production and songwriting works should peep the next releases by Rita Ora [Columbia Records], Tinashe [RCA Records], Frank Ocean [Def Jam Recordings] and Ellie Goulding [Polydor Records].

Frank Ocean works with Rick Rubin for sophomore album

Frank Ocean has worked with Rick Rubin for his upcoming studio album.

Rubin recently produced “Don’t” and “Bloodstream” for Ed Sheeran. Both hit singles appear on the British singer and songwriter’s latest album, “x,” now available for download via iTunes in partnership with Atlantic Records.

Other credits by the legendary record producer are Adele’s “One and Only” [XL Recordings], Lady Gaga’s “Dope” [Streamline Records], Lana Del Rey’s “Ride” [Interscope Records] and Jennifer Nettles’ “That Girl” [Mercury Nashville].

Meanwhile, Ocean is expected to release her second studio collection later this year under Universal Music Group / Def Jam Recordings.

The still-untitled CD boasts productions from Pharrell (Usher, Miley Cyrus), Rodney Jerkins (Ciara, Janet Jackson), Hit-Boy (Beyonce, Kelly Rowland), Diplo (Madonna, Katy Perry) and Happy Perez (Babyface, Mariah Carey).

Ocean’s first studio collection, 2012’s “Channel Orange,” peaked to number two on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned singles including “Lost,” “Pyramids,” “Thinkin’ Bout You” and “Sweet Life.”

Angel reveals tracklist for new mini-album “Possession with Intent”

Angel has revealed the official tracklist for his upcoming mini-album.

The British singer, songwriter and record producer – born Sirach Charles – is scheduled to release “Possession with Intent” on October 12 via iTunes (UK) in partnership with Parallel Music Group / Island Records.

“Possession with Intent” serves as the follow-up to 2013’s “About Time,” which spawned hit singles including “Beautiful” and “Time After Time,” as well as collaborations with Parker Ighile, Frank Ocean, and James Fauntleroy.

Tamia inks new deal with Def Jam Recordings

Tamia has inked a new deal with Def Jam Recordings.

The Universal Music Group imprint is also home to artists including Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Teyana Taylor, and Jhene Aiko.

Meanwhile, the yet to be titled sixth LP by the Canadian singer/songwriter is expected to be released later this year.

It serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “Beautiful Surprise,” which debuted at number twenty six on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

Among the contributors on the highly-anticipated studio collection are Da Internz (Kelly Rowland, Jazmine Sullivan), Claude Kelly (Whitney Houston, Faith Evans) and Chuck Harmony (Toni Braxton, Fantasia Barrino).

Angel schedules release date for debut album ‘About Time’

Angel has unveiled the title and release date for his upcoming debut album.

The British singer/songwriter – real name Sirach Charles – will release “About Time” in the UK on April 15 via Universal Music Group / Island Records.

Lead single “Wonderful” was co-written by Parker Ighile, whose credits include “What Now” by Rihanna [Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings] and “Do It like a Dude” by Jessie J [Universal Music Group / Republic Records].

Other songwriters backing Angel on the project include Planet VI: Theron & Timothy Thomas (Keri Hilson, RaVaughn Brown), Eric Bellinger (Usher Raymond, Chris Brown), Erika Nuri (Christina Milian, Fantasia Barrino) and Christopher “Frank Ocean” Breaux (Alicia Keys, John Legend).

Beyonce Knowles has confirmed siblings Theron and Timothy Thomas of Planet6 for her upcoming fifth album, scheduled for release later this year Sony Music Entertainment / Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia Records.

Recent credits by the American songwriting and production duo – formerly known as Rock City – include singles “Pour it Up” by Rihanna [Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings] and “Kisses Down Low” by Kelly Rowland [Universal Music Group / Republic Records].

They also confirmed placements on the next albums by Keri Hilson [Universal Music Group / Mosley Music Group / Interscope Records] and RaVaughn Brown [Sony Music Entertainment / Compound Entertainment / Columbia Records].

Singer/songwriter Beyonce Knowles has reunited with super producer Pharrell Williams on her upcoming fifth album, which is due later this year via Sony Music Entertainment / Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia Records.

The pair previously teamed up on Beyonce’s debut solo single “Work it Out” as well as “B’Day” tracks “Kitty Kat” and “Green Light.”
