Mary J. Blige hits the studio with Poo Bear, Sons of Sonix

American singer, songwriter, and actress Mary J. Blige has teamed up with Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd and Sons of Sonix for a new collaboration.

Poo Bear is responsible for co-writing Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?,” Chris Brown’s “Little More,” Jennifer Lopez’s “Us,” Fifth Harmony’s “Angel,” Sam Smith’s “Burning,” and Martin Garrix’s “So Far Away.”

Meanwhile, Sons of Sonix – composed of Moses Samuels and Michael Akinkunmi – are responsible for helming Tanika’s “Come Through,” Alexandra Burke’s “Without You,” and Trey Songz’s “What Are We Here For.”

Blige, on the other hand, is expected to release her next studio collection later this year via Universal Music Group / Capitol Records.

Her thirteenth album “Strength of a Woman” debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned singles “Thick of It,” “U + Me (Love Lesson)” and the Kanye West-assisted “Love Yourself.”

Jessie Reyez teams up with Lewis Capaldi for new single “Rush”

Canadian singer/songwriter Jessie Reyez has teamed with fellow recording artist Lewis Capaldi for his new promotional single “Rush,” which is now available via iTunes and all other digital streaming platforms.

Production duties on “Rush” were handled by James “Malay” Ho, whose resume boasts additional works with Sam Smith (“Midnight Train”), Frank Ocean (“Nikes”), Zayn Malik (“It’s You”), Alessia Cara (“Wild Things”), Tori Kelly (“Talk”), Alicia Keys (“One Thing”) and John Legend (“Green Light”).

As mentioned in earlier posts, Reyez is expected to release her first studio collection later this year via Universal Music Group / Polydor Records.

The still-untitled project reportedly delivers contributions from The Rascals, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Jason Evigan, Chris Loco, Fredro, Salaam Remi, Chris Braide, Jason Boyd, HazeBanga, Benny Blanco, Two Inch Punch, Georgia Ku, Fred Ball, Jesse Shatkin, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Will IDAP.

Jessie Reyez teams up with Happy Perez for new collaboration

Colombian-Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has teamed up with American record producer Happy Perez for a new collaboration.

Perez recently produced “Skywalker” for R&B recording artist Miguel, taken from his latest album under ByStorm Entertainment / RCA Records, “War & Leisure.” The Travis Scott-featuring track peaked to number thirty one on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.

Perez’s resume boasts additional works with Jessie Ware (“Selfish Love”), Camila Cabello (“Crying in the Club”), Machine Gun Kelly (“At My Best”), Halsey (“Now or Never”), K. Michelle (“Pay My Bills”), Mariah Carey (“Beautiful”), Frank Ocean (“We All Try”) and Daley (“Love Somebody”).

Meanwhile, Reyez is expected to release her first studio collection – featuring promotional singles “Cotton Candy” and “Phone Calls” – later this year via Universal Music Group / Polydor Records.

Jessie Reyez enlists Fred Ball for new collaboration

Colombian-Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has enlisted the production services of Fred Ball for her upcoming debut album.

The Roc Nation signee recently produced and co-wrote “Heaven” for American recording artist Justine Skye alongside Charles “Prince Charlez” Hinshaw Jr. The track appears on Skye’s forthcoming debut album, “Ultraviolet,” out on January 19 via Universal Music Group / Roc Nation Records.

Ball’s resume boasts additional works with Rihanna (“Love on the Brain”), Toni Braxton (“Deadwood”), Jessie Ware (“Slow Me Down”), Zara Larsson (“One Mississippi”), Madison Beer (“Say it to My Face”), Astrid S (“Does She Know”), Nina Nesbitt (“Take You to Heaven”) and All Saints (“Summer Rain”).

British singer/songwriter Connor Mullally-Knight, known mononymously as Mullally, has enlisted Ed Thomas and Utters for a new collaboration.

Thomas is responsible for co-writing Jorja Smith’s “On My Mind,” Louis Mattrs’ “Pink Lemonade,” Kiah Victoria’s “Cold War,” Zac Abel’s “Everybody Needs Love,” Aquilo’s “Thin,” and Maverick Sabre’s “Falling Again.”

Meanwhile, Utters’ production resume boasts works with AlunaGeorge (“Last Kiss”), Chronixx (“I Know Love”), Raleigh Ritchie (“In Too Deep”), All Saints (“One Woman Man”), Foxes (“Beauty Queen”), Ella Eyre (“Home”), Selah Sue (“Feel”) and Purple Ferdinand (“Through Your Eyes”).

Sam Smith releases sophomore studio collection “The Thrill of it All”

British singer/songwriter Samuel Frederick Smith, professionally known as Sam Smith, has released his sophomore studio collection online.

“The Thrill of it All” – featuring promotional singles “Too Good at Goodbyes,” “Pray” and “Burning” – is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Tidal and all other digital streaming platforms.

The follow-up to 2014’s “In the Lonely Hour” was prominently co-written and co-produced by regular collaborator Jimmy Napes (born James Napier), who also contributed to the next projects by Mumford & Sons, Tori Kelly, Rita Ora, Liv Dawson, Ria Ritchie, Yebba Smith, and Raye.

Other musicians backing Smith on “The Thrill of it All” are StarGate (Majid Jordan), Timbaland (Keyshia Cole), Malay (Jazmine Sullivan), Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles), Steve Fitzmaurice (Olly Murs), Jason Boyd (Rita Ora), Emile Haynie (Bruno Mars) and The Audibles (Chris Brown).
