Nico & Vinz draft Meleni Smith, Salaam Remi for new album

Nico & Vinz have added Polly A. and Salaam Remi for their upcoming album.

“Day 2 of music and vibes with @salaamremi and @akapollya,” the Norwegian duo posted to their Instagram account on Saturday (January 23, 2016).

Polly A. – real name Meleni Smith – is known for co-writing Jordin Sparks’ “Left… Right” [Louder Than Life], Selena Gomez’s “Bang Bang Bang” [Hollywood], Alicia Keys’ “Love is My Disease” [RCA], and Kat Dahlia’s “Clocks” [Epic].

Meanwhile, Remi’s extensive production resume includes works with Mack Wilds (“Love in the 90z”), Miguel (“Face the Sun”), Jazmine Sullivan (“Dumb”), Ella Henderson (“Hard Work”), and Leona Lewis (“Forgiveness”).

As mentioned in earlier posts, Nico & Vinz are expected to release the follow-up to 2014’s “Black Star Elephant” later this year through Warner Bros Records.

Current single “That’s How You Know” – featuring Kid Ink and Bebe Rexha – was co-written by Julia Michaels (Gwen Stefani, Pia Mia) and produced by Warren “Oak” Felder (Kehlani, Alessia Cara).

Other musicians backing Nico & Vinz on the new LP are Soulshock & Karlin (Usher), Pharrell (Ciara), Kerry Brothers, Jr. (Goapele), Toby Gad (Cassie), RedOne (Brandy), Charlie Puth (Fergie), and Naughty Boy (Beyonce).

Kyan hits the studio with Kerry “Krucial” Brothers

Kyan has recorded new music with Kerry “Krucial” Brothers.

“Had a great week jamming with the legend that is Krucial Keys, the man responsible for production on Alicia Keys’ first four albums” the British singer, songwriter, and record producer posted to his Instagram account.

Keys recently co-wrote “Rio” for Mika along with Nina Woodford and Jarad Kritzstein. The Greg Wells-produced track appears on Mika’s latest album, “No Place in Heaven,” out now via Casablanca Records.

Other notable credits by Kerry “Krucial” Brothers are Alicia Keys’ “No One” [RCA], Keyshia Cole’s “I Just Want It to Be Over” [Geffen], Goapele’s “Tears on My Pillow” [Skyblaze] and Maxine Ashley’s “Between You and I” [Polydor].

Meanwhile, Kyan is scheduled to release his debut album next year through Universal Music Group / Virgin EMI Records.

His current mini-collection “Remote View” – featuring lead single “Sometimes” – is now available for download via iTunes and all other digital outlets.

The EP also boasts contributions from Knox Brown (Usher, K. Michelle), Jonny Coffer (Emeli Sande, Jess Glynne) and Mark Ralph (Clean Bandit, Lion Babe).

Maxine Ashley previews new collaboration with Watch the Duck

Maxine Ashley has previewed a new song online.

The singer/songwriter posted the mini-audio clip for “Paradise” to her Instagram profile on Monday (August 17, 2015).

Production duties on “Paradise” were handled by Eddie Smith III, Jesse Rankins and Jonathan Wells of Watch the Duck, who are also responsible for Iggy Azalea’s “100” and Trinidad James’s “Definition of a Fuck Nigga.”

Ashley is scheduled to release her second EP later this year through i am OTHER entertainment in partnership with Outsiders Recorded Music Limited and Universal Music Group imprint Polydor Records.

The still-untitled collection serves as the follow-up to 2014’s “Moodswings,” which contained alliances with Kerry “Krucial” Brothers (“Between You and I”), Pharrell Williams (“Perpetual Nights”) and Neff-U (“By Your Side”).

Furthermore, Ashley is known for providing vocals on Bondax’s single “Special.” The track – which was helmed by group members Ed Butler and Robbie Lamond along with MNEK – is now available for download via iTunes.

Mika has premiered the music video for his new single online.

The British singer/songwriter posted the visual clip for “Staring at the Sun” to his Vevo channel on Friday (July 31, 2015).

Production duties on “Staring at the Sun” were handled by Martin Terefe (Shawn Mendes, Mary J. Blige) and Starsmith (Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue).

The track was written by Mika – real name Michael Holbrook Penniman – along with Wayne Hector (Fleur East, Jess Glynne), Benny Benassi (Kelis, Skrillex) and Alessandro Benassi (Madonna, Chris Brown).

Mika’s latest studio collection “No Place in Heaven” – featuring previous promotional cuts “Talk About You” and “Good Guys” – is now available for download via iTunes in partnership with Casablanca Records.

Alicia Keys debuts new song “Somewhere in the City”

Alicia Keys has debuted a new song online.

The singer/songwriter posted the audio clip for “Somewhere in the City” to her website (AKVault.com) as part of her “12 Days of Christmas” giveaways.

“Somewhere in the City” was co-written and co-produced by Kerry “Krucial” Brothers, who also teamed with the artist on singles “No One,” “A Woman’s Worth,” “Diary” and “Like You’ll Never See Me Again.”

As previously reported, Keys is currently putting the final touches on her sixth studio album. The still-untitled project serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “Girl on Fire,” which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

Among the producers and songwriters who contributed to the highly-anticipated album are Swizz Beatz (Beyonce, Chris Brown), Emeli Sande (Rihanna, Katy Perry) and Pharrell Williams (Usher, Kylie Minogue).

Goapele unveils official artwork for ‘Break of Dawn: Deluxe’

Singer/songwriter Goapele Mohlabane has unveiled the official artwork for the deluxe edition of her fourth album, “Break of Dawn,” due on November 20 via Skyblaze Recordings / Decon Records.

The rejuvenated project will feature four new tracks including lead single “For Love,” which was produced by up and coming producer Bedrock.

“Break of Dawn” was initially released in October, 2011. The disc has yielded three singles in the shape of “Milk & Honey,” “Play” and “Tears on My Pillow.”

In addition to Bedrock, the new collection by Goapele will boast further productions from Kerry “Krucial” Brothers (Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera), James “Malay” Ho (Frank Ocean, Cee Lo Green) and Bobby Ozuna (Kelis, Joss Stone).

Alicia Keys confirms official tracklisting for upcoming album ‘New Day’

Alicia Keys has confirmed the official tracklisting for her upcoming fifth album, “Girl on Fire,” which is due in the United States on November 26 via Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records.

New single “Girl on Fire” was written and produced by Alicia Keys along with frequent collaborators Jeff Bhasker (Beyonce Knowles, Janelle Monae) and Salaam Remi (Usher Raymond, Leona Lewis).

The new collection serves as the follow-up to 2009’s “The Element of Freedom,” which debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart. It also spawned hit singles “Doesn’t Really Matter,” “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart” and “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready).”

In addition to Jeff Bhasker and Salaam Remi, “Girl on Fire” will boast further productions from Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean (Angie Stone, Whitney Houston), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Eminem), Warren “Oak” Felder (Toni Braxton, Nicole Scherzinger), Andrew “Pop” Wansel (Marsha Ambrosius, Elle Varner) and Kerry “Krucial” Brothers (Christina Aguilera, Goapele Mohlabane).
