Tori Kelly - Should've Been Us

Tori Kelly has announced the details for her new single.

The singer/songwriter christened “Should’ve Been Us” as the second promotional single from her upcoming debut album “Unbreakable Smile.”

“Should’ve Been Us” – now available for download via iTunes – was written by Kelly along with  Ludvig Söderberg, Jakob Jerlström, Oscar Holter, Laleh Pourkarim, Alexander Kronlund, and James Alan.

As mentioned in earlier posts, “Unbreakable Smile” – featuring hit single “Nobody Love” – will hit stores on June 23 via Capitol Records.

Album producers are Max Martin (Kelis, Avril Lavigne), Toby Gad (Beyonce, Alicia Keys), Ilya KnocDown (Prince Royce, Ellie Goulding), Chuck Harmony (Tamia, Janet Jackson) and Malay (Frank Ocean, John Legend).

On the songwriting front, Kelly has teamed up with Claude Kelly (Brandy, Jordin Sparks), Jenna Andrews (Pixie Lott, Jessie J), Ed Sheeran (Rudimental, Jessie Ware) and Savan Kotecha (Usher, Christina Aguilera).

Stacy Barthe premieres “War IV Love” music video

Stacy Barthe has premiered the music video for her new single online.

The singer/songwriter posted the visual clip for “War IV Love” to her Vevo channel on Tuesday (April 14, 2015).

Production duties on “War IV Love” were handled by James “Malay” Ho, whose other credits include Frank Ocean’s “Lost” [Def Jam Recordings], Alicia Keys’ “One Thing” [RCA Records] and Goapele’s “Undertow” [Skyblaze Recordings].

The track is slotted for inclusion on Barthe’s debut album, “BEcoming,” which will hit stores and digital outlets later this year via John Legend’s label Homeschool Records in conjunction with Motown Records.

Other musicians backing Barthe on “BEcoming” are Pharrell Williams (Ciara, Kelly Rowland), Darhyl “DJ” Camper (Tamar Braxton, Chris Brown), Benny Cassette (Miguel, Sevyn Streeter) and Salaam Remi (Usher, Jordin Sparks).

As a songwriter, Barthe has penned cuts for Miley Cyrus (“Adore You”), Rihanna (“Cheers”), Katy Perry (“Hummingbird Heartbeat”), Britney Spears (“Blur”), Alicia Keys (“When It’s All Over”) and K. Michelle (“Build a Man”).

She also teamed up with record producers Jack Splash, Hit-Boy and Swagg R’Celious for the next projects by Brandy [MBK Entertainment] and Kandace Springs [Blue Note / Capitol Records].

John Legend hits the studio with Alex Da Kid, Malay for new album

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter John Legend has recorded new material with hit music producers Alex Da Kid and James “Malay” Ho.

It is yet to be known whether these sessions are intended for Legend’s upcoming fifth studio album or a different project for another artist.

Recent production credits by Alex Da Kid include Rihanna’s “American Oxygen” [Roc Nation], Nicki Minaj’s “Bed of Lies” f/ Skylar Grey [Republic Records] and Imagine Dragons’ “I Bet My Life” [KIDinaKORNER / Interscope Records].

Meanwhile, James “Malay” Ho previously co-wrote and produced hit singles “You & I (Nobody in the World)” and “Green Light” for John Legend.

His other credits include “Lost” by Frank Ocean [Def Jam Recordings], “One Thing” by Alicia Keys [RCA Records], “The Thrill is Gone” by Fantasia [J Records] and “Undertow” by Goapele [Skyblaze Recordings].

Legend’s last album, “Love in the Future,” was released in August 2013 via Columbia Records. The collection peaked to number four on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned international hit single “All of Me.”

Furthermore, Legend serves as the executive-producer for Stacy Barthe’s upcoming debut album “BEcoming,” which will be released later this year via Homeschool Records in partnership with Motown Records.

Kandace Springs hints at new collaboration with Rodney Jerkins

Kandace Springs has hinted at a new collaboration with Rodney Jerkins.

“Bout to head into the studio with @RodneyJerkins” the singer, songwriter and pianist tweeted on Wednesday (February 25, 2015).

Jerkins recently served as executive producer for Mary J. Blige’s latest album “The London Session,” which is now available for download via iTunes in partnership with Universal Music Group imprint Capitol Records.

His extensive resume also includes works for Mariah Carey [Epic Records], Toni Braxton [Motown Records], Sia [RCA Records], Rihanna [SRP Records], Ariana Grande [Republic Records] and Tori Kelly [Capitol Records].

Meanwhile, Springs is expected to release her debut album later this year via SRP Records in partnership with Blue Note Records and Capitol Records.

The still-untitled project will be prominently helmed New York-based songwriting and production duo Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken.

Other songwriters and producers backing Springs on the still-untitled project are Brandon “B.A.M.” Hodge, Jack Splash, Stacy Barthe, Andre Harris, James “Malay” Ho, Dan Wilson, Andrea Martin and James Poyser.

Kandace Springs has enlisted James “Malay” Ho for her first studio collection.

“Had an incredible 3 days in the studio with #Malay” the singer, songwriter and pianist posted to her Instagram page on Tuesday (February 24, 2015).

Malay recently produced and co-wrote “Angels & Airwaves,” “April’s Fool” and “Battle Cry” for Angel Haze. These tracks appear on the rapper’s debut album, “Dirty Gold,” out now via Island Records (UK) and Republic Records (US).

His resume also includes works Goapele (“Undertow”), Alicia Keys (“One Thing”), Frank Ocean (“Lost”), John Legend (“You & I”), Fantasia Barrino (“Teach Me”), Jamie Foxx (“15 Minutes”) and Cris Cab (“Paradise on Earth”).

Meanwhile, Springs’ debut album will be released later this year via SRP Records in partnership with Blue Note Records and Capitol Records. The still-untitled project is executive produced by Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken.

Other album contributors include Jack Splash (Solange, Pixie Lott), Andrea Martin (Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks), Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift), Andre Harris (Usher, Mariah Carey) and Stacy Barthe (Rihanna, Jhene Aiko).

Stacy Barthe has debuted a new song online.

The R&B singer/songwriter posted the audio clip for “Live for Today” – featuring Common – to her SoundCloud channel on Tuesday (January 13, 2015).

“Live for Today” was produced by Benny Cassette, whose other credits include Miguel [RCA Records], Keri Hilson [Interscope Records], Mary Lambert [Capitol Records], Sevyn Streeter [Atlantic Records] and Elle Varner [RCA Records].

The track is slotted for inclusion on the Barthe’s debut CD, “BEcoming,” out on March 3 via John Legend’s label Homeschool Records and Motown Records.

Other album contributors are Salaam Remi (Jazmine Sullivan, Mack Wilds), Pharrell Williams (Ciara, Justin Timberlake), James “Malay” Ho (Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean) and Darhyl “DJ” Camper (Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj).

As a songwriter, Barthe recently co-penned Teyana Taylor’s “Outta My League” [Def Jam Recordings] and K. Michelle’s “Build a Man” [Atlantic Records]. She also contributed to the next projects by Brandy and Kandace Springs.

Stacy Barthe shares release date for debut album “BEcoming”

Stacy Barthe has shared the release date for her upcoming debut album.

The singer/songwriter is plotting to unleash “BEcoming” on March 3, 2015 via John Legend’s label Homeschool Records and Motown Records.

Lead single “A N G E L” was produced by Darhyl “DJ” Camper, who is also responsible for Chris Brown’s “Lady in a Glass Dress” [RCA Records] and Nicki Minaj’s “Favorite” featuring Jeremih [Republic Records].

Other tracks slotted for inclusion on the album are “Flawed Beautiful Creatures,” “Hey You There,” “Eyes Wide Shut” “You Wonder Why” and “Live for Today.”

In addition to Camper, “BEcoming” boasts further collaborations with Pharrell (Usher, Mariah Carey), Salaam Remi (Miguel, Craig David), Benny Cassette (Keri Hilson, Elle Varner) and James “Malay” Ho (Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean).
