Raphael Saadiq graces new album by Chromeo

Chromeo have teased a new collaboration with Raphael Saadiq.

“The god @raphael_saadiq laced us too. People don’t even know how incredible of a bass player he is. We got a bunch some of our idols on this album,” the Canadian electro-funk duo posted on Instagram on Saturday (June 17, 2017).

Saadiq’s recent songwriting and production credits include Solange’s “Cranes in the Sky,” Usher’s “Champions,” Andra Day’s “Cheers to the Fall,” Miguel’s “Flesh,” and Adrian Marcel’s “Eyes Don’t Lie.”

His extensive resume boasts additional works with Joss Stone (“Tell Me ‘Bout It”), D’Angelo (“Lady”), TLC (“So So Dumb”), Kelis (“80s Joint”), Mary J. Blige (“Color”), Kelly Price (“So Sweet”), Teedra Moses (“Take Me”), Alicia Keys (“Lesson Learned”) and Whitney Houston (“Fine”).

Meanwhile, Chromeo – consisting of David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel – are expected to drop their new album later this year via Last Gang Records / Big Beat Records / Atlantic Records.

The follow-up to 2014’s “White Women” reportedly delivers further productions from Jason Evigan (Enrique Iglesias), Digital Farm Animals (Rita Ora), Kaytranada (Craig David), Ian Kirkpatrick (Selena Gomez), Illangelo (Emeli Sande), Ariel Rechtshaid (Kylie Minogue) and MNEK (Dua Lipa).

Among the songwriters expected to appear on the album are Lindy Robbins (Jason Derulo), Ross Golan (Charlie Puth), Priscilla Renea (Nick Jonas), Sean Douglas (Big Boi), Andrew Jackson (Sean Paul), Billy Walsh (Alicia Keys), Scott Harris (The Chainsmokers) and Ammar Malik (Ed Sheeran).

Craig David hits the studio with JP Cooper, White N3rd

British singer/songwriter Craig David has recorded new music with fellow UK artist JP Cooper and regular collaborator White N3rd.

White N3rd (real name Scott Wild) previously teamed up with David on hit singles “When the Bassline Drops” and “One More Time,” taken from the artist’s 2016 album, “Following My Intuition.”

Cooper, on the other hand, is scheduled to release his debut album “Raised Under Grey Skies” on September 22 via Island Records. The highly-anticipated collection features contributions from Teemu Brunila (“Party”), Mike Spencer (“September Song”), Jamie Hartman (“Passport Home”) Two Inch Punch (“Good Friend”), Mark Taylor (“Wait”) and Nonfiction (“Masterpiece”).

As mentioned in earlier posts, David’s seventh studio collection is expected to arrive later this year via Sony Music Entertainment UK in partnership with Speakerbox / Insanity Records.

Ray BLK teams up with Jimmy Napes for new single “Doing Me”

Ray BLK has announced the details for her new single.

The British singer/songwriter, born Rita Ekwere, has christened “Doing Me” as the first promotional cut from her upcoming project and will release it on June 9 via iTunes and all other digital streaming outlets.

“Doing Me” was co-written and produced by James Napier (professionally known as Jimmy Napes), whose other credits include Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me,” Madonna’s “Best Night,” Alicia Keys’ “Hallelujah,” Mary J. Blige’s “When You’re Gone,” Jessie Ware’s “Pieces,” Liv Dawson’s “Searching, ” Ellie Goulding’s “Heal,” Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be,” and Lianne La Havas’ “Wonderful.”

BLK’s upcoming project, which serves as the follow-up to 2016’s “Durt,” is scheduled to arrive later this year.

British singer/songwriter Dua Lipa has liberated her debut album online.

The self-titled collection – featuring singles “New Love,” “Be the One,” “Last Dance,” “Hotter Than Hell,” “Blow Your Mind (Mwah),” “Lost in Your Light,” “Thinking About You,” and “Room for 2” – is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Tidal and all other digital streaming platforms.
