Elle Varner starts recording sophomore album

Singer/songwriter Elle Varner has started work on her upcoming sophomore album, which serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “Perfectly Imperfect” [Sony Music Entertainment / MBK Entertainment / RCA Records].

Production on the still-untitled project is headed by frequent collaborators Warren “Oak” Felder (Marsha Ambrosius, Toni Braxton), Andrew “Pop” Wansel (Chris Brown, Usher Raymond), Ronny “Flip” Colson (Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa) and Steve “Ace” Mostyn (Alicia Keys, Emeli Sande).

As previously reported, Varner has christened “Not Tonight” as the next single from “Perfectly Imperfect.” The album debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart. It also delivered hit singles “Only Wanna Give It to You” (featuring J. Cole), “Refill,” “I Don’t Care” and “Oh What a Night.”

Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis grace debut album by MPrynt

MPrynt have added Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis to the list of contributors for their upcoming as-yet-untitled debut album, which is due later this year via Universal Music Group / Motown Records.

The songwriting and production duo are responsible for singles “All for You” by Janet Jackson [EMI Music Group / Virgin Records], “Dance With My Father” by Celine Dion [Sony Music Entertainment / Columbia Records] and “Through the Rain” by Mariah Carey [Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings].

Meanwhile, other musicians backing MPrynt on the still-untitled project are Warren “Oak” Felder (Marsha Ambrosius, Chris Brown), Andrew “Pop” Wansel (Usher Raymond, Chrisette Michele), Ronny “Flip” Colson (Elle Varner, Wiz Khalifa) and Alonzo “Novel” Stevenson (Joss Stone, Fantasia Barrino).

Miley Cyrus has added Stacy Barthe to the list contributors for her upcoming fourth album, which is due soon via Disney Music Group / Hollywood Records.

Recent songwriting credits by the R&B singer/songwriter – who is currently signed to John Legend’s Home School Records – include “When It’s All Over” by Alicia Keys [Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records], “Speak Ya Mind” by Estelle [Warner Music Group / Atlantic Records] and “Like I Love You” by Melanie Fiona [Universal Music Group / Republic Records].
