Samantha Mumba – Woman

“Woman” is the shelved sophomore album by Irish singer/songwriter Samantha Mumba. It was supposed to be released in 2002 via Polydor Records following her UK top 10 single “I’m Right Here.” However, Mumba has since confirmed she was unable to release any new material due to contract restrictions following the restructure of Polydor, which resulted in her being dropped.

On the follow-up to 2000’s “Gotta Tell You,” Mumba has worked with producers Bloodshy & Avant (Madonna, Britney Spears), Arnthor Birggisson (Christina Milian, Leona Lewis), Anders Bagge (Robyn, Jessica Simpson), Stargate (Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez) and Mark Taylor (Enrique Iglesias, Kylie Minogue).

Among the songwriters she has collaborated with on the album are Kandi Burruss (TLC, Destiny’s Child), Nina Woodford (Alesha Dixon, Nelly Furtado), Karen Poole (David Guetta, Janet Jackson), Michelle Bell (Blu Cantrell, Mary J. Blige) and Paul Barry (LeAnn Rimes, James Bay).

Normani drafts Pharrell Williams for debut album

American singer/songwriter Normani Kordei, known mononymously as Normani, has enlisted Pharrell Williams for her upcoming debut album.

Williams’s recent songwriting and production credits include Ariana Grande’s “The Light is Coming,” Travis Scott’s “Skeletons,” Janelle Monae’s “I Got the Juice,” Camila Cabello’s “Sangria Wine,” Justin Timberlake’s “Man of the Woods,” and The Carters’ “Apeshit.”

His last studio collection under Columbia Records, 2014’s “Girl,” debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and spawned singles including “Marilyn Monroe,” “Come Get it Bae” and “Gust of Wind.”

Meanwhile, Normani current single “Waves” – featuring 6LACK – is now available via iTunes and all other digital streaming outlets.

For her upcoming debut album under Keep Cool / RCA Records, Normani has also worked with producers Stargate, Boi-1da, D’Mile, Joel Little, The-Dream, Nova Wav, Jahaan Sweet, London on Da Track, DJ Mustard, and The Rascals.

Rita Ora delivers sophomore studio collection “Phoenix”

Rita Ora has released her sophomore studio collection online.

“Phoenix” – featuring singles “Your Song,” “Anywhere,” “Girls” and “Let You Love Me” – is now available via all digital streaming outlets.

On the highly-anticipated project, Ora has worked with songwriters including Ed Sheeran, Ali Tamposi, Georgia Ku, Lotus IV, Ilsey Juber, Emily Warren, Brian Lee, Noonie Bao, Julia Michaels, and Justin Tranter.

Among the producers who contributed to the album are StarGate, Jimmy Napes, Andrew Watt, Digital Farm Animals, Julian Bunetta, Louis Bell, Ben Billions, John Ryan, Sam Romans, Fred Gibson, Sir Nolan, Jonny Coffer, Ali Payami, Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat, Steve Mac, and Rudimental.

Stargate celebrate 20 years in the music business

Norwegian songwriting and production duo Stargate, which is composed of members Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, have celebrated 20 years in the music business.

Alongside former member Hallgeir Rustan, and before relocating to the United States, Stargate have helmed hits for Samantha Mumba (“Always Come Back to Your Love”), Misteeq (“Scandalous”), Shola Ama (“Still Believe”), Blue (“All Rise”), Javine (“Real Things”), Atomic Kitten (“It’s OK”), Billie Piper (“Day & Night”), Fierce (“Sweet Love 2K”) and Ashley Ballard (“Hottie”).

Stargate’s recent credits include David Guetta’s “Light Headed,” Charli XCX’s “Girls Night Out,” Khalid’s “Stay,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Almost Love,” Ne-Yo’s “Without You,” Tinashe’s “Faded Love,”  Majid Jordan’s “Body Talk,” Camila Cabello’s “OMG,” and Sam Smith’s “Too Good At Goodbyes.”

Normani taps Calvin Harris for new singles “Checklist” and “Slow Down”

Normani has tapped the production services of Calvin Harris for her new singles.

“Checklist” (which was co-written by Starrah) and “Slow Down” (which was co-written by Jessie Reyez) are now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Tidal and all other digital streaming platforms.

Besides recently topping the UK Singles Chart with Sam Smith (“Promises”) and Dua Lipa (“One Kiss”), Harris also wrote and produced tracks for Rihanna (“We Found Love”), Kylie Minogue (“Too Much”), Sophie Ellis Bextor (“Off and On”), Rita Ora (“I Will Never Let You Down”) and Mary J. Blige (“One Life”).

As mentioned in earlier posts, Normani is currently working on her upcoming debut album under Keep Cool / RCA Records.

The still-untitled project reportedly delivers further productions from Stargate, Boi-1da, DJ Mustard, Nova Wav, Jahaan Sweet, London on Da Track, Joel Little, Sevn Thomas, D’Mile, Jimmy Napes, and Sons of Sonix.

Rita Ora has shared the music video for her new single online.

The visual clip for “Let You Love Me” was posted to the British singer/songwriter’s YouTube channel on Friday (September 21, 2018).

The track – which was written by Ora alongside Ilsey Juber, Noonie Bao, Lotus IV, EasyFun, and Fred Gibson – is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Tidal and all other digital streaming platforms.

As mentioned in earlier posts, Ora’s upcoming sophomore album “Phoenix” – featuring previous singles “Your Song,” “Anywhere,” “Lonely Together” and “Girls” – will arrive on November 23 via Atlantic Records UK.

The follow-up to 2012’s “Ora” reportedly yields additional alliances with Stargate, Eyelar Mirzazadeh, Diztortion, Jimmy Napes, Sam Romans, Lindy Robbins, Sean Douglas, Ian Kirkpatrick, Jake Gosling, and Invisible Men.

MØ releases new promotional single “Imaginary Friend”

Danish singer/songwriter Karen Ørsted, professionally known as MØ, has released her new promotional single online.

“Imaginary Friend” is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, Tidal and all other digital streaming platforms.

The track was co-written by Noonie Bao alongside Billy Walsh and Illangelo, who are also responsible for Post Malone’s “I Fall Apart,” Alicia Keys’ “In Common,” Majid Jordan’s “Something About You,” and Emeli Sande’s “Starlight.”

MØ’s upcoming sophomore album “Forever Neverland” – featuring previous singles “Nostalgia,” “Sun in Our Eyes” and “Way Down” – is scheduled to arrive on October 19 via Sony Music Entertainment / Columbia Records.

The highly-anticipated project boasts further songwriting contributions from Ilsey Juber, Jozzy, Cara Salimando, Alexandra “Shungudzo” Govere, Sarah Aarons, Madison Love, Jaramye Daniels, and Charli XCX.
