Tamia inks new deal with Def Jam Recordings

Tamia has inked a new deal with Def Jam Recordings.

The Universal Music Group imprint is also home to artists including Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Teyana Taylor, and Jhene Aiko.

Meanwhile, the yet to be titled sixth LP by the Canadian singer/songwriter is expected to be released later this year.

It serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “Beautiful Surprise,” which debuted at number twenty six on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart.

Among the contributors on the highly-anticipated studio collection are Da Internz (Kelly Rowland, Jazmine Sullivan), Claude Kelly (Whitney Houston, Faith Evans) and Chuck Harmony (Toni Braxton, Fantasia Barrino).

Monica reunites with Jermaine Dupri for new album

R&B songbird Monica has reunited with Jermaine Dupri on new material for her upcoming studio album.

Dupri previously co-wrote and produced Monica’s hit singles “U Should’ve Known Better,” “The First Night” and “Love All Over Me.”

Other notable credits by Dupri include Mariah Carey’s “You Don’t Know What to Do” [Def Jam Recordings], Whitney Houston’s “Never Give Up” [RCA Records] and Janet Jackson’s “Call on Me” [Virgin Records].

Meanwhile, the highly-anticipated new album by Monica is expected to be released later this year via Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records.

It serves as the follow-up to 2012’s “New Life,” which debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart and delivered singles “Anything (To Find You),” “Until It’s Gone,” “It All Belongs to Me” and “Without You.”

Toni Estes records new album with Bryan Michael Cox

Toni Estes has started the process of recording her upcoming as-yet-untitled sophomore album, which serves as the follow-up to 2000’s “Two*Eleven.”

Production on the new collection is headed by Bryan Michael Cox, who previously teamed up with Estes on the “Two*Eleven” tracks “Told Me,” “Let Me Know,” “She Already” and “She Can’t.”

He also contributed to the next projects by Usher [Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records], Mariah Carey [Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings] and Tamar Braxton [Sony Music Entertainment / Epic Records].

As a songwriter, Estes has collaborated with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and LaShawn “Big Shiz” Daniels on the tracks “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay,” “If I Told You That” and “Get It Back” – taken from Whitney Houston’s 2008’s release “My Love is Your Love” [Sony Music Entertainment / Arista Records].

A new song by Whitney Houston has emerged online.

“Never Give Up” will be included on the late artist’s upcoming greatest hits album, “I Will Always Love You: The Best of Whitney Houston,” which is due on November 13 via Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records.

The previously unreleased track was co-written and produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox, who are also responsible for singles “Love All Over Me” by Monica [Sony Music Entertainment / RCA Records], “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey [Universal Music Group / Island Def Jam Recordings] and “Burn” by Usher [Sony Music Entertainment / LaFace Records / Arista Records].
